Corona, CA – Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel has earned another major endorsement in her campaign to succeed John Tavaglione on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin is the latest to endorse Karen Spiegel for County Supervisor, District Two. The county’s top prosecutor joins the majority of the Board of Supervisors in their support for Spiegel.
“I know that Karen Spiegel is committed to providing Public Safety officials with the resources they need to keep Riverside County residents safe,” said Hestrin. “I see her as a leader that will work to reduce crime in our community and keep criminals behind bars, which is why I’m proud to announce my full support for Karen Spiegel for Supervisor.”
“It is a great honor to earn the endorsement of District Attorney Mike Hestrin, who has led the DA’s office with great vigor and distinction,” said Spiegel. “His community outreach with the Crime Prevention Unit will help reduce potential criminal behavior among our youth, and his Organized Crime Unit has pursued some of the most serious criminals in our community. I look forward to working hand-in-hand with him as the next District Two, County Supervisor.”
Mike Hestrin was first elected as Riverside County’s District Attorney in 2014 and won re-election in June of 2018. Prior to leading the DA’s office, Hestrin served almost 20 years as a line prosecutor, earning the Statewide Prosecutor of the year in 2009 from the California District Attorney Investigators Association.
The current representative for Riverside County’s Second District, Supervisor John Tavaglione, announced that he will retire this year and has endorsed Spiegel as his successor. In addition to Supervisor Tavaglione and DA Mike Hestrin, Karen Spiegel has earned endorsements from Supervisors Chuck Washington and Marion Ashley, as well as, a vast majority of city council members and local leaders within the Second District.
The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 6th.
