Corona, CA – Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel has earned another major endorsement in her campaign to succeed John Tavaglione on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Riverside City Councilman Mike Gardner is the latest to join Spiegel’s growing list of supporters. Gardner, who was first elected to the Riverside City Council in 2007, was also a candidate in the primary election for Riverside County’s Second District.
“Karen Spiegel has a great relationship with city leaders here in Riverside because she cares about the issues our community faces,” said Gardner. “Karen’s dedication to attracting high-paying jobs, improving infrastructure, and enhancing public safety will greatly benefit the residents of Riverside County. Karen will be a strong advocate for the City of Riverside and I am honored to support her campaign for County Supervisor.”
“I am truly honored and humbled to earn the support and endorsement of Councilman Gardner,” said Spiegel. “Mike Gardner is a dedicated community leader who has passionately served the residents of Riverside since he was first elected in 2007. I look forward to working with Mike as we continue to make Riverside County a great place to live, work, and visit.”
The current representative for Riverside County’s Second District, Supervisor John Tavaglione, announced that he will retire this year and has endorsed Spiegel as his successor. In addition to Supervisor Tavaglione and Councilman Gardner, Spiegel has earned endorsements from a vast majority of city council members and local leaders within the second district.
The second district encompasses the cities of Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Norco, a portion of Riverside, and several unincorporated areas. The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 6th.
